Important Grammar Note!

 

The table above shows these colours translated, in four columns.

 

If the noun that you are talking about is masculine plural, for example, you would use the masculine plural form of the colour that you are trying to say.

 

E.g: 

 

'Les garçons sont bleus'='The boys are blue'

 

'Garçons' is masculine plural, therefore 'blue' has to also be in the masculine plural form.

 

Other examples:

 

'Ma mère est orange'='My mother is orange'

'Ton sac est bleu'='Your bag is blue'

'Les journals sont marron'='The newspapers are brown'

 

If you want to say 'the green frog', for instance, you would put the colour in its correct form after the noun, so the correct translation would be 'la grenouille verte'.

 

Other examples:

 

'Les baleines grises'='The grey whales'

'Une souris noire'='A black mouse'

'Un poisson rouge'='A red fish'
