Important Grammar Note!
When you want to tell someone to do something, (say, 'do your homework), you've got to use the imperative. The imperative is used quite a lot, often when telling someone off or advising someone to do something (like 'lose weight').
To form the wonderful imperative, just follow these simple steps!
1) Get the infinitive (i.e. 'remplir')
2) Chop off the end (i.e. 'rempl-')
3) Add the appropriate ending! (i.e. 'remplis', or 'remplissez')
Either:
-
If you're speaking to one person, use the 'tu' ending
-
If you're speaking to more than one person, or a formal person, use the 'vous' ending
-
If you're saying 'let's...', use the 'nous' ending
4) Be awesome!
Now, form the imperative! (See what we did there..?)
Remember!
You don't need to say the 'tu' or the 'vous' in the imperative. Never. Never ever. Never ever ever. Never ever ever ever. You get the idea.
